It's a CELEBRATION!
Dorian Knox has received a bizarre birthday card via mail. It was a hallmark card for a little boy, with dinosaurs on it that said, “Have a ROARING 6th Birthday!” On the interior, it read, “Dorian. Guess what? It's my birthday too. See you soon. =)” It was signed Gene Tuttle.
We have not invited him. We aren't entirely sure how he's heard about us.
We've done some digging around in Normal, Illinois. There were a few people who say they know him and gave us a bit of background. He used to walk around town with one of those plastic birthday hats on his head and a gift box in his arms. Most people didn't take him seriously or thought he was harmless when every day, he would tell them, “It's my birthday!”
Nearly everyone was happy to play along. Most people found the whole thing funny, right up until that first time – the last time – someone told him it wasn't his birthday.
People understood he was from a bad part of town and maybe didn't go to school and maybe his parents weren't great. No one was willing to tell us what happened to the person who contradicted him. They did say that when he left, the whole town collectively exhaled. And personally, they hope they never see him again.
So when you see him, say it. It costs you nothing.
