My mother stopped bothering.

My dad? My dad???? Who the fuck is that? WHAT the fuck is that?

If you're not strong enough, where I grew up breaks you. It broke most everyone I knew. I had to separate from the weak. I become cold. I became hardened.

It was the only way.

What's ethical doesn't matter. Survival does, and I have no interest in living by a moral code that doesn't house me, feed me, or clothe me.

Society gave up on me and that's perfectly fine. I'll make my own way. Just like I always have.
